As the baby boomers retire, state governments will feel the pinch.

Retirees tend to earn less and spend less than people of prime working age, and a recent analysis from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City projected the effects of an aging U.S. population on two major sources of state revenue: income taxes and sales taxes.
