An expert panel writing this month in the British Journal of Sports Medicine urged office workers to take the danger seriously and get out of their chairs for at least two hours every work day.
But what about people whose working days are over? It turns out that the oldest adults, including retirees, spend the most time sitting, typically 8 to 12 waking hours each day, studies show.
